Today MusicNamaste introduces a very dedicated artist in the field of Carnatic Music, Smt.Meera Subramaniam, Mumbai, India.
Smt.Meera Subramaniam worked with Punjab National Bank for 34 years and after retirement, she is pursuing Carnatic music full time. She learnt vocal music under various teachers starting with Seetha Mami (Bombay Jayashree’s mother). She also has also learnt under Smt.Balamani, Lakshmi Krishnaswamy, Kallidaikurichi Sri Shankaranarayana (Disciple of Vidwan Late G.N.Balasubramaniam) and Smt.Rajalakshmi Balasubramaniam (Thiruppugazh Raji). She has completed her 2 year diploma course in vocal music from Mumbai University, the course being conducted by Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai. She is currently under the tutelage of Smt. Managalam Shankar of Chennai, who is the senior most disciple of Sangeeta Kalanidhi Sri. T.M.Thiagarajan.
She has given concerts around Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, a Vaggeyakara concert organized by Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha and also online concerts during the pandemic.
Shri G.Subramaniam, who is accompanying on Mridangam, learnt under Sri.Ramanathan, Mumbai. He has revived his Mridangam after 45 years post retirement.
