Today MusicNamaste introduces a very talented Carnatic Music, Saraswati Veena artist – Saipriya Viswanathan.
Saipriya Viswanathan, a senior disciple of Veena Vidushi, late Smt. Mangalam Muthuswamy, is a teacher/performer of the Saraswati Veena. A Sur Mani and Singar Mani awardee for Veena and Bharatanatyam respectively, Saipriya Is also a Diploma holder for Carnatic Vocal Music and an All-India National Merit Scholarship Holder for dance.
A recording artiste, Saipriya has given the background score for the Commonwealth Games 2010, Khelo India 2019 and so on. Saipriya plays several genres, including classical, light, film, fusion and world music.
Currently, she is working with new and revolutionary Veena ideas and designs, with a view to making it more portable and easy to travel with, without compromising on the basic acoustic tonal quality of the instrument.
