Today MusicNamaste introduces a talented artist of Carnatic Music – Smt.Devika Rajan.
Smt. Devika Rajan started learning from the age of 5 from her mother and Guru- Late V Ranganayaki. Her learning was through listening to her mother’s classes, Kutcheries without note books and repeating immediately. She passed Govt. exams in Vocal, Violin and Veena. She started singing in AIR from the age of 10 by participating in youth programs. She won several prizes in inter schools, colleges, Inter bank competitions. She is a graded Artist of AIR in Carnatic and light music.
She learnt Bhajans from Savithri Ranganath, and Carnatic Music and light music from Rajeshwari Sankaran and Radha Krishnamurthy .
In Bangalore after VRS from bank, she focused more on teaching than on performing. Again after some years, she is now into teaching and and has been performing since 10 years.
Accolades:
- She won 2 prizes in 2020 in Sudhaarnava Academy – USA competition conducted by Padma Bhushan Smt. Sudha Ragunathan .
- Won in Indian Raga competition too.
- Performed in various Facebook Live concerts in various academies.
- Participated in Sankara TV- Senior Super Star- in 2 rounds so far.
Smt.Devika Rajan, is currently running Ranga School of music from Bengaluru – home classes and online teaching vocal (carnatic), veena and violin
