Today MusicNamaste introduces a very accomplished artist and leader in the field of Carnatic Music, Vid. Smt. Santhi Mahadevan from Dallas, Texas, USA.
Smt. Santhi Mahadevan is currently pursuing her PhD. She was one of the senior disciples of Vidwan Sri. N. R. Prashanth of Mysuru. Santhi has studied Carnatic music since the age of six and continues to be guided by Sri.Prashanth. She is a regular performer at the Chennai Music Festival since 2000, having performed for various sabhas. She has also performed in various other prestigious venues in India and in other countries including here in the US/Dallas.
With more than 25 years of teaching experience, she is a much sought-after teacher of music in the DFW metroplex and the Founder Director of the Pranavam School of Music in Dallas. She was awarded the title of “Drone Acharya” by Carnatica Archival Center, USA for being an outstanding teacher. Several of her students have given full fledged Arangetrams in the metroplex and at Chennai and other cities in India. They are all good and seasoned singers in their own rights now and continue to be guided by her.
She was also recently conferred with the coveted “Lifetime achievement award” in Carnatic music by the Shivan Fine Arts Academy, Chennai. Santhi Mahadevan has been featured in several TV interviews like that by Kairali TV and Flowers TV.

Educational Achievements:
Academically she holds two master’s degrees, one each in Marine Science and Bioacoustics, from the Loughborough University of Technology in UK. She has served as member of the teaching faculty at Mt. Carmel College for women at Bengaluru. She has also served the Republic Polytechnic and the National University of Singapore as a senior member of faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences.
